No one needs to tell Philadelphia fans they are unique – we do a good enough job of that ourselves. Talk radio is our soapbox, the newspaper our witness and “Eye of the Tiger” our anthem. We boo as often as we celebrate and jeer as frequently as cheer, but no one supports their team unconditionally like Philadelphia fans. Few outside the region understand the mentality of the Philly sports fan, despite how well the city is represented around the country, but we prefer it that way. The Philly Fan Complex can only be understood by those who have experienced it – as Mike Schmidt put it, “The thrill of victory and the agony of reading about it the next day.” Of course, the real agony is listening to WIP for the next week; but we digress.

Here at Philly Fan Complex, we are homers by nature, but far from blind loyalists. Ultimately our teams are a reflection of the city, and if the product is not up to par, there is no holding back. There is no shortage of media “watchdogs” in such a sports-centric city, so we aim for an original and articulate perspective on the entire Philadelphia sports spectrum. After all, it is more than being a fan – it is an obsession.
